Brain Tumor Removal

Brain tumor surgery (Craniotomy) aims to remove as much of the tumor as possible while minimizing damage to healthy brain tissue. It is often the first line of treatment for benign and malignant brain tumors to reduce pressure and obtain a diagnosis.

Brain Tumor Removal may be recommended when conservative treatments have not been effective. Common reasons include: headaches, seizures, vision problems, cognitive changes. A section of the skull is temporarily removed (bone flap) to access the brain. Using an operating microscope and sometimes image-guidance systems (neuronavigation), the surgeon carefully dissects the tumor from surrounding brain tissue. The bone flap is secured back in place with mini-plates.

Before Brain Tumor Removal: 1) Complete all required pre-operative tests and evaluations, 2) Inform your doctor about all medications and supplements, 3) Follow fasting instructions (typically no food/drink after midnight before surgery), 4) Arrange for transportation and post-operative care at home, 5) Prepare your home for recovery with necessary supplies.
